Waiting on God

One time I ordered some much needed items from Amazon and chose standard delivery. I just could not wait for it to be delivered as I really needed those items. Upon delivery of the items I was so relieved. Have you ever prayed and it seemed God was taking too long to answer your prayers, like waiting for delivery? You sometimes wonder if it is a waste of time to dedicate so much time in praying.

Sometimes you may even send a prayer request to your church members and after a few prayers they may give up on praying about the issue. Yes, sometimes friends can discourage you about praying about the situation. They can give you all types of reasons why your prayers cannot be answered. This happened to Job when his friends accused him of being the cause of his own problems His wife also in Job 2:9 insisted he curse God and die. Sometimes, to people you look crazy praying for things they cannot imagine you receiving. In 1 Samuel 2:14, Eli the priest thought Hannah was drunk because she prayed with so much anguish and bitterness. Yes, sometimes some requests may seem out of line and impossible in the eyes of man.

Genesis 18:14 says.."Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son." That was the response God gave Sarah when she laughed upon hearing that she will have a son. Sometimes we ourselves doubt our prayers. That does not mean that God's promise will not come to pass. We ,however, need to know that our faith and believe can make our prayers more potent. We all know the story of the woman with the issue of blood. When Jesus found out who she was in Mark 5:34, He told her that her faith had made her whole.

In the long run Hannah had her son Samuel and Sarah also had her son Isaac. I am sure the waiting was not an easy task even for Sarah who was promised. Job also after waiting on God was given a double portion of what he had lost. Isaiah 40:31 says..." But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

In waiting for your prayers to be answered, meditate on Psalm 37:34 which says ... "Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off."
